During creation, many concepts were proposed and the team agreed to use a simulation-style as a sandbox to integrate them all. The game was developed by the Entertainment Planning & Design team of Nintendo and began to evolve in 2013 following the success of Super Mario 3D Land. The main gameplay feature in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine is the open exploration gameplay, which contrasts with the linear gameplay of prior game entries. An entrance into the series of Super Mario follows Mario and Cappy, who encourage Mario to manipulate certain characters and items when flying through many different worlds to rescue Princess Peach from his blackbird Bowser who wants to marry her forcefully.
